To ensure research originality, all manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Academic Research are screened using iThenticate or Turnitin software. This process verifies adherence to proper citation practices and prevents academic Misconduct.
Overall Threshold
The total similarity index must not exceed 20% for the manuscript to be considered for review.
Single Source Limit
Similarity from any single source must be less than 5% to ensure diverse scholarly referencing.
Technical Exclusions
References and Appendices are excluded from the similarity calculation due to the use of standardized academic terminology.
Editorial Actions
Confirmed plagiarism results in immediate rejection. High similarity due to common terminology may require substantial revisions.
- Pre-submission Check: Authors are encouraged to verify their manuscripts using similarity detection tools before submission.
- Accurate Citation: Ensure all sources are properly attributed. Avoid direct copying without using quotation marks.
- Paraphrasing: Rephrase external information in your own words while maintaining the original meaning and citing the source appropriately.
- Scientific Exceptions: Written justifications for exceeding similarity thresholds may be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief for special cases.
